Before my Papa passed away due to illness, he took the time to write down words of wisdom he wanted to share with me. I, the oldest grandchild, grew up as Papa’s little spoiled girl. I know because I am becoming an adult, and because he won’t be here for that he wanted to share what he could.
In his honor for his birthday today, I combined the many things he left for me and organized it the best way I could to create a poem with his own words. Here it is…
A Four Letter Word
Love is a Four-Letter word and should be used with discretion.
I’ve seen people drive into love without a learner’s permit. The result was usually an accident.
To pretend to love someone is to cheat yourself as much as him.
To anyone who hasn’t loved: Hating comes easy.
To Love somebody truly, it’s not necessary to be false to other relationships.
If you love someone, tell them.
Love unreturned is not necessarily unrewarded.
It is impossible to know a loved woman who is not a beautiful woman.
If I haven’t learned anything from the words my grandfather left to me, it is to love….To learn from love and learn to love. With that comes a beautiful life.
God even shows us that in his Word. Thank you Papa for your wisdom.
And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity, and honor. Proverbs 21:21
